Bow Windows

“A bow window is a curved bay window. Bow windows are designed to create space by projecting beyond the exterior wall of a building, and to provide a wider view of the garden or street outside and typically combine four or more casement windows, which join together to form an arch. Bow windows first appeared in the eighteenth century in the United Kingdom, and in the Federal period in the US.

Bay Windows

“Bay windows became a hugely popular feature of residential Victorian architecture in the British Isles from about the 1870s and hold a continuous appeal up to this day. They are used to increase the flow of natural light into a building, thereby also making a room appear larger, and to provide views of the outside which would be unavailable with an ordinary flat window. The can be found in terraced houses, semis and detached houses as well as in blocks of flats”.

OKNA Bow and Bay Window Superior Construction

2-inch Insulated Head and Seat Board with hand-selected furniture grade veneer and standard 1 ¼ inch jamb. While most window manufacturers offer additional insulation in the seatboard only for an added charge, OKNA includes BOTH seatboard and the headboard insulation on all their bay and bow windows at no extra cost to you!

Water penetration barrier below each window and mullion

Silicone Free Interior and Exterior. Most bay and bow window manufacturers use silicone both on the inside and outside of the window. The result is yellowing or blackening silicone lines over longer period of time, which diminishes the aesthetical appeal of these beautiful windows. This really defeats the purpose since bay and bow windows are meant to add this extra dimension, elegance and beauty to your home. All OKNA bay and bow windows feature silicone free interior and exterior. Thanks to the water penetration barrier (number 2) silicone simply is not necessary.

Standard high-density foam insulated mullions with threaded steel rod for added strength. Not only do OKNA bay and bow windows have steel rods in their mullions for increased strength, they also have foam inside each mullion in order to prevent condensation inside the mullion.
